JOBSHADOWING EXPERIENCE IN SLOVAKIA

JOBSHADOWING EXPERIENCE IN SLOVAKIA

The jobshadowing experience took place in Slovakia from 24th to 28th of April, 2017. The purpose of the report is to summarize job shadowing experience which was held in specific classes and the results of the evaluation survey.

The participants entered six different thematic classes in where they had a chance to get to know new teaching methods which developed an emotional development of the students. For example Sfumato method, Hejny method, storytelling with the use of emotional cards and/or story cubes, the practical course of preparing the students´ gifts.

The feedback was positive. After each lesson, the participants completed the observation sheets which contained the following points:
1.     assessment of the lesson,
2.     assessment of students´ work.

Concerning the first point – assessment of the lesson – the participants were trying to indicate the level of achievement of the competences during the specific lesson. It also dealt with the level of achieving the aims and the atmosphere on the lesson.
On the other hand, the second point – assessment of students´ work – they evaluated students´ activity, the ability to formulate problems, the ability to work as a group and the pace of the work.

The assessment was following:

As you can see, the participants were satisfied with the lessons, some of them were completely amazed by the responsibility the students had during the lesson where the gifts were made. They found the session as very interesting and some of them also practical. They enjoyed new methods like Hejny method, specially the teacher from Spain said that Sfumato method was somehow similar to the method that they used in their country. Concerning the classroom management, the participants claimed that the most of the teachers handled it very well. The students were cooperative, they were trying to speak in English as much as possible. Moreover, the participants agreed that the learning tools (like story cubes, or emotion cards) were innovative, so that the students´ creativity and fantasy were enhanced.

The following part of the report is dedicated to the graph which assesses the overall results of the relevance and effectiveness of the mobility and in particular the jobshadowing experience carried out in ZŠ Márie Medveckej Tvrdošín.
We would like to thank to the participants, the teachers and also the students. It was a pleasure to host them in Slovakia.
